The Theatres for Theatres Appeal
Theatres for Theatres is an exciting three-year initiative to raise £4 million to make a dramatic difference to the lives of our young patients requiring specialist brain surgery at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital.

The initiative will help to fund two new state-of-the-art operating theatres to be used by our Neurosciences team. The theatres will be used to treat children with complex and often life-threatening neurological and craniofacial conditions.  Theatres for Theatres will create world-class facilities which could allow Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital to treat up to 20 per cent more children in the next ten years.

Despite being a centre of excellence, many of their facilities are old, no longer fit for purpose and cramped, so capacity is limited.  They need more operating space, as well as better wards and other facilities more suited to their patients and their families.

What we can build with your help
As part of the next phase of redevelopment of the hospital they are building a new state-of-the-art Centre for Neurosciences. The new facilities offer a well-designed and child friendly space and where the two new operating theatres, funded by the Theatres for Theatres Appeal, will be located. EllenorLions Hospices works hard to provide an all encompassing and first class hospice care for people of all ages from young children to the elderly with cancer and other progressive and life threatening illnesses.  We aim to help our patients, their families and carers with all of their needs whether it is physical, practical or spiritual in the environments of our hospice, at home or in hospital.

Services:

EllenorLions Hospice

EllenorLions Day Therapy
Through two patient day groups we aim to improve the quality of life for patients and offer ongoing support for the families.  Patients can access complementary therapy courses and other arts and craft activities put on by the staff and volunteers.

EllenorLions Hospital Support
We have a team of specialist nurses and a consultant at Darent Valley and Queen Mary's Hospital who are there to give advice and support for adults and their families who have been admitted to hospital with cancer and other life limiting illnesses.

EllenorLions Children & Young People's Service
Our Shining Lights children's team provides care for children with life threatening and life limiting conditions from newborn to young adults. The nurses offer care and support to the child and family by visiting the home as well as the support given through our group activities and monthly youth group.
